Job Title: Risk Management Officer
Reports to: Director-General
Job Profile:
The Risk Management Officer is responsible for ensuring that adequate control on all risk categories including credit risk, market risk, and operational risk is maintained. This will be in full compliance with all rules, regulations, and internal policies and procedures. He/She serves as an advisor to OFID’s Senior Management in the areas of risk management and makes risk mitigation recommendations. The incumbent will also function as the secretary to OFID’s Risk Management Committee. The position of Risk Management Officer is located in the Office of the Director-General and the incumbent will collaborate with the Senior Management in attaining established compliance goals as directed by Director-General.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Director General, the incumbent:
- Develops / keeps updated the rule and procedure for an overall risk management process within the approved Risk Management Framework, as may be revised from time to time;
- Identifies and analyzes all areas of potential risks to OFID and its assets, including but not limited to credit risk, market risk, currency risk, operational risk, IT risk, as well as legal risk, and brings them to the attention of the Director-General together with risk mitigation recommendations;
- Ensures that OFID’s Risk Management Framework including its Rules, Regulations and Procedures are up-to-date and relevant at all times.
- Ensures that OFID is in full compliance with all applicable laws, standards, rules, regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
- Acts as the Secretary to the Risk Management Committee to perform duties such as:
- Summarizing requests and recommendations made by OFID’s various Departments and Units
- Preparing agenda and meeting schedule
- Preparing minutes of the Risk Management Committee meetings
- Undertakes other assignments as required by the Director General as pertinent to the risk management functions.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Master’s degree either in Finance, Business Administration, Financial Engineering or Economics, and with specialisation in the area of Risk Management
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in financial risk management and risk analysis, or other relevant fields preferably from a leading global financial institution and with strong background in market analysis and risk management.
Skills and Competences
- Ability to deal with sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality
- Established analytical skills in the financial risks, market analysis and transactions
- Familiarity with International Rules, Regulations and Standards such as BIS Rules particularly on capital adequacy; and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- High initiative and deep sensitivity in strategic views
- Computer literate with high level of competence in the use of MS Office and other relevant software packages
- Established excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with attention to details
- Working knowledge of Arabic, French or Spanish will be an added advantage
- Good interpersonal skills including ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural background.
