Job Title: Advisor - Private Sector Operations Department
Reports to: Assistant Director General, Private Sector Operations
Job Profile:
The Advisor will be responsible for managing private sector loans and investments made by the Fund throughout the entire project development cycle including project identification and structuring, project sourcing, project appraisal and due diligence, negotiation, finance implementation, monitoring and evaluation in line with the Fund’s policies and procedures.
He/she should have a good knowledge and experience of project financing, preferably acquired in a developing country environment. He/she must also have a sound understanding of credit risk, financial models and the ability to present work effectively both verbally and in written reports. He/she may also be called upon to take other responsibilities, including the promotion of the facility, knowledge centres, developing new instruments, systems and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- An advanced degree from a reputable university in the country of education, in accounting, commerce, finance, economics, MBA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum of fifteen years professional experience obtained from one or more of the following:
- The private sector division of a major international development finance institution.
- A banking environment (including commercial or investment banking, fund management or a development bank).
- A commercial environment of relevance to the Fund’s operations and job profile.
- A public sector agency concerned with the development of the private sector (i.e. development body, relevant ministry or promotional agency).
- Good practical knowledge of the issues, problems and operating environment of developing countries.
Skills and Competences
- Ability to structure and complete equity and debt financings.
- Demonstrated financial analysis skills.
- Excellent command of written and oral English.
- Good working knowledge of either Arabic, French or Spanish will be an added advantage .
- Good interpersonal and negotiation as well as presentation skills.
- Computer literacy with practical working experience of Windows, Excel, and other relevant software packages.
- Ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural background.
- Proven strategic planning, corporate development, analytical and project management abilities.
