Job Title: Information Officer
Reports to: Director, Department of Information
Job Profile:
The Department of Information - where this post is located, undertakes assignments designed to promote the visibility of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). The Department seeks to inform the general public, peer groups, member and partner countries about the operations of OFID. It disseminates information via various media, including newspapers, periodicals, radio and television, as well as in-house publications, press releases, films and exhibition appearances. Under the supervision of the Director of Information, the incumbent Information Officer carries out a range of communication activities designed to inform target audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific tasks will include:
- Research and drafting resource materials for inclusion in OFID’s various publications.
- Drafting of press releases.
- Revision, editing and proofreading of manuscripts prior to publication.
- Provision of editorial services to other Departments of OFID.
- Speechwriting.
- Preparation of press articles for the media.
- Contributions to OFID’s website and the Public Information Strategy.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university in the country of education, in communications or journalism.
- Some background in economics, through study or career development will be desirable.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in public information or related field of work.
Skills and Competences
- Proven ability to write press releases, features, speeches and key corporate messages.
- Knowledge of print design and production.
- Ability to establish and meet deadlines, work under pressure and handle multiple priority tasks.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic, French or Spanish will be an added advantage.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in an international multi-cultural environment.
- Self-motivated team player capable of achieving common objectives across organizational lines.
