Job Title: Web Designer
Job Profile:
The incumbent undertakes the day-to-day maintenance, updating, management and ongoing development of the OFID’s website in an optimal manner. He/she will work closely with the IT Unit and therefore ensures the functionality of the Fund’s intranet and web pages.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific tasks will include:
- Ensuring the overall functionality of the website and all content contained therein.
- Ongoing development of the website especially to embrace new technologies, as well as providing assistance with HTML coding, image manipulation and other web-related technology issues.
- Undertaking design and layout of new content in keeping with OFID’s corporate identity.
- Up-keeping and updating of the OFID’s website while also ensuring that all links are functional and the website user-friendly.
- Providing support and training to relevant staff in coding and basic image manipulation for everyday maintenance.
- Devising new ways of improving the usability and navigation of the Fund’s website and its sub-sites.
- Production of web and multimedia design while also serving as the main contact and interface regarding design issues.
- Uploading of new content unto the website as / and when necessary.
- Performing other related duties incidental to the job responsibilities described above.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Computer Science or related studies in any area of Computing, supplemented by specialized training in web design.
- Minimum of five years professional experience in managing website content, including at least one year in an International Organization in the area of web designing.
Skills and Competences
- Excellent computer skills with an in-depth knowledge of hand-coding advanced HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and XML. Additional knowledge/experience with CGI, ASP/ASP.NET, SQL/Oracle, VBScript and Flash would be useful.
- A solid understanding of website information architecture/hierarchy, overall web usability/accessibility issues as well as web standards.
- Proficiency with cross browser, cross platform issues as well as techniques for preparing and delivering video over the Internet.
- Established design skills with advanced knowledge of PhotoShop, Illustrator, Fireworks and other relevant image/video manipulation and web development tools.
- Experience with digital asset management systems as well as Content Management Systems (CMS). Selection or development of a CMS is envisaged in order to create a database-driven website (using SQL/Oracle).
- Experience in working with Macromedia Dreamweaver for day-to-day web site updates and development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Good working knowledge of Arabic, French or Spanish would be an advantage.
- Ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
