OFID sponsors young delegates to attend the One Young World Summit

OFID sponsored 20 young delegates from 20 different countries to attend the inaugural One Young World Summit entitled Inspiring the Decision Makers of Tomorrow, which was held in London between 8-10 February. The Summit brought together young delegates from over 100 countries to deliberate over six key issues under the guidance of global counselors from individuals in governments, socially responsible businesses and NGOs. Each Plenary Session was chaired by counselors whose role was to guide the young delegates through their discussions. The key six issues covered were: Developing political leadership for a positive future; global business and its role in shaping society through the economy; interfaith dialogue on world religion and spirituality; The environment and its protection; The media: its changing identity and power; and, Global health challenges. During the Summit, OFID presented a short video summarizing the organization’s activities which included a visual statement by Mr. Suleiman J. Al-Herbish, OFID Director-General, on OFID’s interests in securing a better future for youth globally, and the OFID activities that affect future generations.

Five delegates from the 20 sponsored by OFID were dependents/relatives of staff members who won their sponsorship through an in-house competition. The other sponsored delegates were from various developing countries across the globe.
