Geothermal Power Generation (US$7 million)
Purpose
To pursue geothermal energy in order to secure a sustainable and competative source of energy for the country.
Activities
  • drilling of four wells in the Assal area; each having a depth of 2.5 km;
  • construction of 2.5 km in access roads;
  • establishment of employee housing and construction of a water supply system; and
  • provision of technical assistance.

Boulaos Power plant Rehabilitation Phase III (US$12.5 million)
Purpose
To strengthen and increase the electricity capacity of Boulaos plant
Activities
  • replace ageing unit with a new 7.45 MGW diesel generator, inlcuding all related electrical equipment;
  • installation of network distribution equipment;
  • revamping of the old facilities building; and
  • provision of spare parts for a 24,000 hours operating period.
