Metolong Water Supply (US$6 million)
Purpose
To meet the water demand for both domestic and industrial use in the capital Maseru and outlying towns Roma, Mazenod and Teyateyaneng
Activities
  • construction of a dam on the South Phuthiatsana River with a holding capacity of 52 million m3, along with a pumping station ;
  • construction of pumping stations to divert water to various treatment plants;
  • installation of approximately 110 km of transmission pipeline;
  • construction of four service reservoirs;
  • engineering services;
  • acquisition of land; and
  • establishment of a Project Implementation Unit.
