September 6, 2007 Metolong Water Supply (US$6 million)

Purpose

To meet the water demand for both domestic and industrial use in the capital Maseru and outlying towns Roma, Mazenod and Teyateyaneng

Activities

construction of a dam on the South Phuthiatsana River with a holding capacity of 52 million m3, along with a pumping station ; construction of pumping stations to divert water to various treatment plants; installation of approximately 110 km of transmission pipeline; construction of four service reservoirs; engineering services; acquisition of land; and establishment of a Project Implementation Unit.
