Taoussa Dam (US$8 million) |
| Purpose |
| To provide a reliable supply of irrigation and drinking water to the one million-strong population in the project region originating in Gao and Timbuktu to the frontier bordering Niger. |
| Activities |
- construction of a dam and 1,460 m2 reservoir, including all related facilities;
- construction of a 130 km paved access road linking the dam site to Gao via the city of Bourem;
- carrying out of hydroelectric development works on approximately 3,500 ha;
- carrying out of environmental and social mitigation measures;
- project implementation unit and provision of technical support; and
- consultancy services.
