Kitabi - Crête Congo Nil Road (US$10 million)
Purpose:
To facilitate the population's access to markets and social services, and improve the connectivity of isolated provinces
Activities:
  • construction of a 30 km-long road;
  • rehabilitation of drainage works;
  • stabilization of embankments and slopes;
  • installation of road signs, crossing points and safety fences; and
  • consultancy services.
Project cost:
US$27 million

Electricity Access Scale-up (US$10 million)
Purpose:
To enhance access to a reliable and affordable source of energy among households in the cities of Kigali, Kibuye and Ruhengeri
Activities:
  • provision of support to Electrogaz to procure the required hardware, equipment and vehicles needed to improve maintenance services;
  • extension of the exiting national grid to link to previously-unconnected areas;
  • implementation of a grid-intensification program in already-connected urban and peri-urban areas;
  • rehabilitation of the Rwandan national grid;
  • provision of alternative, low-cost energy sources to low-income households; and
  • capacity-building and institution-strengthening measures.

Butare Water Supply (US$4 million)
Purpose:
To enhance the water supply system in the city of Butare in the Central Southern Province
Activities:
  • construction of two dams and installation of 3 km of pipeline;
  • rehabilitation of water treatment infrastructure;
  • installation of a water force main;
  • repair and replacement of 15 km of distribution pipes;
  • construction of 20 standpipes; and
  • consultancy services.

US$4.96 million
