Construction of Flyover Bridges in Dhaka (US$28 million)
Purpose:
To boost socio-economic development in the capital Dhaka through the construction of a flyover bridge that will ease traffic congestion and enhance access to social services
Activities:
  • construction of an 8.25 km-long flyover bridge with ramp;
  • modification of existing pavement under bridge to improve drainage;
  • planting of landscaping;
  • development of pedestrian crossings and overpasses; and
  • consultancy services.

US$115.22 million

Emergency Disaster Damage Rehabilitation (US$20 million)
Purpose:
To build and rehabilitate infrastructure destroyed by Cyclone Sidr
Activities:
  • rehabilitation of rural infrastructure in 23 districts, including roads, bridges and culverts;
  • provision of swift import financing for essential commodities and inputs, particularly for agriculture;
  • repair/construction of flood and cyclone shelters (including those for livestock);
  • implementation of municipal infrastructure works in 30 municipalities;
  • repair of 800 km of damaged national, regional and district roads, as well as 64 bridges and culverts;
  • rehabilitation of flood control, drainage and irrigation facilities;
  • repair of embankment breaches;
  • repair or replacement of water control structures and canals; and,
  • consultancy services.

Secondary Towns Water Supply and Sanitation (US$9 million)
Purpose:
To provide sustainable access to safe water supply and sanitation services in 16 secondary towns
Activities:
  • rehabilitation, development and expansion of water sources, treatment facilities and piped water supply systems;
  • carrying out of safe sanitation awareness campaigns;
  • construction of community, school and public latrines;
  • institution strengthening; and
  • land acquisition and resettlement.
