Water Resources Management Sector Development (US$12 million)
Purpose:
To help raise agricultural productivity of around 15,000 hectares in the Siem Reap, Kampong Thom and Banteay Meanchay provinces, where rural poverty is high.
Activities:
  • provision of agricultural extension support to farmers, including training in on-farm water and soil management;
  • establishment of water user committees in beneficiary communities; and
  • carrying out of capacity-building and institution-strengthening at the district and provincial level.

Road Asset Management (US$7 million)
Purpose:
To improve the country's national and provincial road network
Activities:
  • repair/reconstruction of some 950 km of roads;
  • installation of road signs;
  • capacity strengthening schemes; and
  • consultancy services.

Railway Rehabilitation (US$13 million)
Purpose:
To upgrade worn structures of the country's 642 km-long railway
Activities:
  • rehabilitation of the Northern and Southern railways lines, 335 km and 254 km respectively;
  • reconstruction of a 48-km stretch linking the Northern line to the Thai border; and
  • capacity strengthening of the network operator Royal Cambodian Railways.
