North Eastern Region Rural Development
Purpose:
To modernize irrigation methods in the governorates of Hassakeh, Deir Ezzor and Rakka in the Eastern Region
Activities:
  • establishment of water users' associations;
  • introduction of water conservation technologies, including modern irrigation equipment;
  • establishment of extension services and rural credit facilities; and
  • establishment of a project coordination unit.

US$41.55 million

Arab Gas Pipeline
Purpose:
To improve the competitiveness of Syria's energy sector by promoting the use of natural gas - the project is part of the Arab Regional Gas Pipeline Network
Activities:
  • construction of a 324 km-long gas pipeline, starting at the Syrian Jordanian border to the Al-Rayan area near Homs city, including a pipe linking to the Deir Ali Power Plant;
  • all related civil works, including construction of buildings, utilities and access roads;and
  • consultancy services.

US$163.35 million
