Dushanbe-Kyrgyz Border Road Rehabilitation, Phase II (US$3.5 million)
Purpose:
To rehabilitate a key transport corridor linking the capital Dushanbe to Darband on the Kyrgyz border
Activities:
  • improvement of an 89 km-long stretch of a two-lane highway, as well as 60 km of rural feeder roads;
  • installation of drainage facilities;
  • replacement, repair and construction of bridges; and
  • consultancy services.

Regional Interconnection Transmission
Purpose:
To modernize the interconnected electricity transmission systems of Tajikistan and Afghanistan and enhance power trade relations between the two countries
Activities:
  • construction of a 220 kV double-cicuit transmission line to link the Golovnaya hydropower plant with the Afghanistan border; and
  • consultancy services.
